Raheem Blackshear entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech in 2022. He found his first real opportunity with Carolina, appearing in 41 games over three seasons from 2022 through 2024. During that stretch, he rushed for 203 yards and three touchdowns while also catching 16 passes for 138 yards.
Special teams became an important part of Blackshear's NFL résumé. With the Panthers, he returned 66 kickoffs for 1,734 yards, averaging 26.3 yards per return, while also handling punt-return duties. His 2024 season included 31 kickoff returns for 791 yards, showing why his value extends beyond his limited role in the running game.
Detroit signed Blackshear during 2026 training camp after a workout, bringing another experienced option into the backfield. Although his time with the Lions was brief and ended after an injury settlement, a Raheem Blackshear T-Shirt (https://www.motorcitybluewear.com/collections/raheem-blackshear-t-shirt) still highlights an interesting part of his NFL journey—a running back who has built his career through versatility, return skills and opportunities earned outside the spotlight.
